We deploy professional and responsible movers to ensure you and your items are treated with care. All items are stored in our secure, climate controlled warehouse.
How do I register? back to top
Click on sign up and enter your information. Once your account is created, add your desired service, and proceed through the registration process. Once you have submitted your payment information you are considered "registered".

Dorm Room Movers aspires to ease the stressful life of students by helping with all their moving, storage and shipping needs. Instead of worrying about where to put your stuff, open that textbook and study for a change. You sign up and pack, we do the rest!
Is storage and shipping available year round? back to top
Yes, our storage and shipping services are available through out the entire year. Storage is separated into three semesters, Fall, Spring, and Summer.
How does storage work? back to top
1. We ship custom moving kits to your residence. 2. Our professional movers come to your room at the designated pickup time. 3. We store your items for the entire summer/semester in our climate controlled storage facility. 4. Then we deliver all items back to your new residence on or off campus when you return.
* Vanderbilt Students - items will be picked up & delivered from your dorm entrance due to the university security policy
What if I don't know what I'm storing yet? back to top
Not a problem, we do not require you to tell us what your storing prior to pickup. Our movers will label and note how many boxed item and unboxed items they pick up. You will only be billed for the items that our movers pick up on the day of service.
What kind of student uses Dorm Room Movers? back to top
Our typical customers are out of state college students who go home for their summers and need a place to put their stuff. The average student uses 5 or 6 of our signature boxes, and usually has 1 or 2 other non-boxed items which they need stored. Check your school for pricing and more information.
Insurance
Is there any insurance on my stuff? What happens if something breaks? back to top
Dorm Room Movers insures each item you store for up to $100. Make sure you pack all electronics in their original packaging so they can be covered under our insurance. Any lost or damaged items must be reported immediately to our customer service hotline, 888.7MYDORM (888.769.3676). Which items are not covered by insurance? back to top
Items that are not covered by Dorm Room Movers are: cash, coins, jewelry, and collectible items of intangible or indefinable value. Extremely fragile items (e.g. glass, mirrors, etc.). Damage to electronic equipment if not packed in its original manufacturer supplied packaging. Inadequately packed items and un-packaged items, including furniture that is not wrapped and protected. Damage caused to assembled furniture and particleboard. Please reference the Terms & Conditions by clicking the link at the bottom of every page.

All items are shipped via UPS. Please refer to www.ups.com for any questions on insurance stipulations on your items being shipped.
Can I purchase additional Insurance? back to top
We currently do not have the ability to sell additional insurance.
Pick up and Delivery
I need to make a last minute change to my scheduled pick up or delivery. back to top
Changes of your 'pickup slot' either to or from a date that is within 48 hours of your move will require a $30 late notice fee due to the special processing required to re-route our teams. To avoid this, try to have an alternate contact available. Please note: if you are changing from today to tomorrow, once selection has been made in your account you will receive confirmation for tomorrow from your mover as soon as they are available. If your date selector is not allowing you to select a date, please call our customer service line.
Where are the available pickup/delivery dates located for my school? back to top
Dates can be viewed in the 'how it works' section of your desired service, and can be selected in your account for that service.
I noticed that time slots are 4-hour blocks; can I request a more specific time? back to top
You will be contacted by your movers within 24 hours of your pickup date with a 2-hour estimated timeframe of when they will be in your area. You or an alternate contact must be at your pickup location within the entire time frame. To provide the best possible service and price for all our customers, pick up and delivery timeslots are based on the location of the halls on our designated route.
I received my 2-hour time estimation for pickup/delivery and cannot be there what can I do? back to top
If you will not be available during the entire time slot we suggest that you coordinate with a friend to be present, or select a different date. This way you will avoid missing your scheduled time and the resulting rescheduling fee. If you are having a friend sign for your pickup/delivery, please ensure that they understand which items you are having stored or shipped, and are available for the entire pickup window provided to you for your move. You must also enter your friend's name and phone number online in your profile under alternate contact.
How do I choose a pickup or delivery date? back to top
Time slots are available for selection in your service profile online. Pickup dates must be selected at least 48 hours in advance online to avoid any additional charges. If you require a pickup date that is less than 48 hours away, you must call our customer service line to check if it can be selected.
Pricing/Fees
What is a coupon code and how do I add one to my account? back to top
A coupon code can be used to receive discounts on any of our services and vary based on what specific marketing material it was obtained from. Log into your account by clicking the 'My Account' link at the top of any page on our site. Choose your selected service and enter your coupon code prior to registering.
What is the refer a friend program? back to top
If you are already a customer you can save $10 per referred person that uses our service. All they have to do is enter your "referral code" found at the bottom of your service account as their coupon code. You'll save $10 on your order for each referral that uses our service, and the friend that uses the code will receive $5 off their order! So you could actually have all your stuff moved FOR FREE!

We price per item. Our standard 4 cubic foot box costs $44, which includes the box, pick up, storage, and delivery! Pricing for out of box items can be found in our pricing sheet.
How do I pay? When will I be billed? back to top
Your items will be priced at time of pick up from your residence. The balance will be automatically charged to the same credit card used to make your registration payment. You can update this card online at any time.
How do I change my card on file? back to top
Log into your account and click update card next to your desired service.
What does my registration payment apply to? Is it refundable? back to top
Your registration payment secures your spot on our trucks and guarantees you 20% off your final bill. This also comes with a complimentary supply kit that includes five 4 cubic foot boxes (18" x 18" x 22") as well as packing tips and a roll of tape. Your registration payment in non refundable. In the case of canceled service the registration is good for 1 year.
What is the typical cost per customer? back to top
Typical cost is approximately $280-$300, but remember, that includes everything! The supplies, pick up from your room, storage for the entire semester and delivery when you return to school!
What form of payment do you accept? Can I pay in cash or checks? back to top
We accept most forms of credit and debit cards but unfortunately we are unable to accept cash, checks or money order transactions. This way we can make sure that your payment is processed correctly and applied directly to your account. We never store your credit card information for additional billing, but we will process the remaining charges based on the previous transaction number through Authorize.net.
What is a peak service charge? back to top
Based on the demand there are a preset quantity of pickups/deliveries allocated for each time slot. Once this quantity is met by other students reserving the dates, a peak fee is applied if the date is requested. This helps us spread the pick ups and deliveries more evenly among all of our time slots and keep your costs low.
Can I ship some of my items and store the rest? What does that cost? back to top
Yes, you must clearly mark the boxes you would like shipped and let your movers know which are for storage and which are for shipping at pick up. Also, please have the address written on each box, as well as online in your service account. Pricing is $10 per box for handling + UPS shipping freight.

Shipping
What if I want to ship all of my belongings home without using storage? back to top
If you want to ship everything home you'll want to register for our Ship Home service instead of storage.
What can I ship home? back to top
You can only ship boxed items that are acceptable within the terms and conditions of UPS.
When will my packages be shipped after they are picked up? back to top
We will ship your items within a week from the time you have notified us to ship. Please note however, once items are picked up for storage, no credit will be given if a request to ship the items is then made. For example, if we pick up your items for storage, and then a request to ship them is made two weeks later, you will still be charged the full storage price and the cost of shipping.
What if I want to ship large items, like a chair or desk? back to top
Dorm Room Movers works with UPS to provide shipping for your items. Each Item must be boxed in order to be shipped. If you can fit it in our box, we can ship it.
Storage
How do I extend my storage period for more then one semester? back to top
Once your items are in storage we can extend your storage period for as long as needed. Just send an email to Info@dormroommovers.com our call 800 number, and let us know you woul like to extend your storage period. Pricing for additional semesters will be at the same rate per item as your current order in storage.
Can I store my computer and other electronics? back to top
Our climate-controlled warehouses are capable of safely storing electronics. All electronics must be packaged in their original packaging to be covered under our insurance.

No problem! Just make sure to pack with bubble wrap or packing blankets to secure the electronics. As always all items are handled with the highest level of care.
Is there anything I can NOT store with Dorm Room Movers? back to top
Dorm Room Movers does not allow storing of cash, jewelry, illegal substances or paraphernalia, or hazardous materials. Please see our terms and conditions for complete information on Dorm Room Mover storage policies.
What do I do with large items like a futon or bicycle? back to top
Large items such as bicycles, futons or lamps can be left out of boxes. The Dorm Room Movers affiliates will properly tag the items when they arrive to pick them up.
Can I have my boxes pulled and shipped during the storage period? back to top
Yes, just send an email to Info@dormroommovers.com or call 800 number, and let us know you which items you would liked shipped, and to what address. Pricing for shipping can be found in our pricing and fees section.
Can I access my belongings while there are in storage? back to top
Yes, you must notify us at least 7 days in advance to have your items delivered or to gain access to them. A $75 early delivery/access fee may be applied to access your items outside of the designated delivery period.
Supplies
How do I purchase additional supplies? back to top
You may purchase additional 5 box supply kits by calling our customer service line.
What if I don't use the boxes that you send me? Can I return them? back to top
Once you have registered, Dorm Room Movers will deliver a complementary supply kit to you. Since your first supply kit is free, if you dont use all of your boxes you can simply give them to your friends if they need any or you can make some cash and sell them on BoxCycle.com. If you have ordered an additional supply kit, we will not be able to refund any amount if boxes are not used.

Our complimentary supply kit includes five (5) double walled 4 cubic foot boxes (18" x 18" x 22") as well as packing tips and a roll of tape. Kits are shipped to you via UPS and may take up to 7 business days to arrive.
