3 Alternative Spring Break Destinations to Visit

With Spring Break around the corner, there are a wide variety of options available for the adventurous student. While everybody will flood to popular Spring Break locations such as Daytona Beach, FL, Panama City, FL, and South Padre Island, TX, there are other lesser known, yet equally exciting locations to consider, such as Carlsbad, CA, Mesa, AZ, and Palm Springs, CA.

CARLSBAD, CA

Home to Legoland, Carlsbad is located about a half hour north of San Diego. Beaches are within an easy drive from the many affordable nearby hotels. From nearby Oceanside Beach, where surfing competitions occur and excellent dining on the Pier, all the way down to Mission Beach in San Diego with a boardwalk and a variety of shops and local attractions. Disney World, Seaworld, and Knotts Berry Farm are within an hours reach. There is a phenomenal nightclub scene in the famous Gaslamp District in San Diego, with places like the Tipsy Crow and Werewolf.

MESA, AZ

Mesa is quickly becoming a must go-to location. For baseball fans, Spring Training is in full swing with many popular baseball teams playing in the Cactus League. It is just an Uber away from the world famous Whiskey Row in Scottsdale, AZ. For those who like the outdoors, they can pan for gold in the nearby Superstition Mountains or enjoy one its many hiking trails.

PALM SPRINGS, CA

Palm Springs is desert city with some of the best weather in the nation this time of year. The  nightlife is teeming with exciting places like Zelda’s Nightclub and Toucans Tiki Lounge. Riots during Spring Break in 1986 quelled enthusiasm as a party hot spot, but in recent years, this desert oasis has brought a diverse crowd of foodies, LGBTQ groups, and millenials to the area, creating an exciting atmosphere with events such as the Krave Spring Break, or take a ride on the Aerial Tramway to see the picturesque vistas of the valley floor below, or go hiking in the nearby Indian Canyons to see ancient native hieroglyphs.

Whether you love baseball, exploring the outdoors, or enjoying the nightlife. Carlsbad, Mesa, and Palm Springs provide scenic and enjoyable alternate locales to get away from the demands of college and recharge for the final leg of the year.
