A Closer Look Into Our FaceTime Feature

Prior to the pandemic, students had to be present for their pickups. The reason for this requirement was so that when DRM movers came to pick up their boxes, students would be able  to sign for  each item accordingly.  Obviously, the pandemic threw a fairly large wrench into our pick up process, as students were forced to remain off campus for long stretches of time. In the era of COVID-19, we had to think creatively in order to find an alternate solution to our moving procedures. Now, we use a new FaceTime feature via Zoom to facilitate this part of the process.

There are 2 reasons why this new feature is just simply  awesome:

  • Health & Safety – Virtual communication reduces the transmission of COVID-19.
  • Pure Convenience  – Students can FaceTime from any location (with good connection) and conveniently build rapport with their mover(s).

For those of you who may be unfamiliar with Dorm Room Movers’ services, here’s how it all works:

  • After students have registered online and packed all their belongings, they schedule a time & date for the movers to come by to pick up their boxes.
  • Once the mover has arrived, they will initiate the FaceTime call with the student to verify and confirm their boxes. After this has been done, the process is complete and the student doesn’t have to worry about anything else.

Dorm Room Movers achieved great success at the end of fall semester 2020 and we will continue to implement our successes by utilizing the experiences we gained from the past as we move through spring semester 2021 (and possibly beyond the pandemic, given the positive feedback received). Of course, innovation is our true mission statement, which means that Dorm Room Movers will always continue to improve in order to ensure students’ health and safety while simultaneously and providing extraordinary convenience to each and every one.
